Love Khichdi - Movie Review

You take a fairly good looking dude; around him you throw half a dozen girls all of who are interested in knowing his sun sign. Needless to say he wants to bed all of them. There’s flirtation, lust, sex and a rude awakening. All this could make for a piping hot Love Khichdi. Alas, it doesn’t.

Too many parallel tracks spoil the script. Director Srinivas Bhashyam takes a titillating plot but tries to cram it up with every possible masala to pander many palates. The result is a true hodgepodge in the name of a sleazy rom-com.

The story revolves around Veer Pratap Singh (
Randeep Hooda), a chef in a hotel. He is gifted with looks that make women go weak in their knees. Just a slight calculation, a little maneuvering and right moves on his part, and the girl comes running into his arms. There’s his skimpily clad neighbour (Riya Sen), a bookshop owner (Rituparna Sengupta), a Punjabi neighbour (Divya Dutta), a feisty model (Jesse Randhawa) and the men-devouring business executive (Kalpana Pandit). All eye him. And the insatiable Veer still hungers for more. He ogles at his maid (Sonali Kulkarni) and fantasizes about her. Among all there’s only one girl (Sada) who’s his real friend. He doesn’t lust for her. But she loves him; secretly though.

It’s not hard to guess how the story unravels; how the promiscuous protagonist realizes the importance of love over lust.
