Bollywood Hottie Bipasha Basu once "Lady Goonda" in real life

The new celebrity chat show 'Tere Mere Beech Mein' is delivering what it promised, many hidden secrets of Indian celebrities. Each episode of the show is based on different theme. The celebrities falling under the theme are called on the show.
This Sunday's episode theme was 'Ghar Ka Beta'. Two gorgeous actresses of bollywood were called this time. Sizzling beauty, Bipasha Basu talked about her childhood.
It was revealed that bollywood hottie was once a terror for boys in her childhood. She was known by the nickname of "Lady Goonda" in her growing years. The actress revealed that she used to keep a stick to teach all the colony boys a lesson if they acted smart.
The actress said: "I used to be very short as a child and I was the monitor in school. When the tall boys would be up to mischief, I'd jump on their back during breaks and pull their hair and beat them up."

Amrita Rao to make her debut on smaller screen

The smaller screen has been the refuge of many actors and actresses whose filmi careers go for a downward slide. It is well known that when age takes a toll and the Bollywood ladies do not get meaty roles on the bigger screen, they turn to being judges on the reality shows.

But this time it is different. The ‘Vivaah’ girl Amrita Rao’s career is definitely quite promising at present and she is getting varied roles. However, she is all set to appear as a judge in Star Plus’ reality show ‘The perfect Bride’. The show, which will mark Amrita’s debut on the smaller screen will have Shekhar Suman and Malaik Arora Khan as her co-judges. The show will be hosted by Megha Gupta and Vishal Malhotra and will have mothers choose their bahu and the wife for their son.
Amrita was suppose to be the guest judge in one of the episodes, but the channel and the production house offered her a huge amount, and a part that she just couldn’t refuse. Amrita appears to be quite excited on being a part of smaller screen.

Sushmita encourages Kangana to take up driving

Who says that two beautiful and successful actresses can’t be friends? We have gorgeous Sushmita Sen and Himachal beauty Kangana Ranaut bonging just too well on the sets of Anees Bazmee’s ‘No Problem’ which is produced by Anil Kapoor. The two actresses are doing a film together for the first time. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Sushmita Sen, Kangana Ranaut, Neetu Chandra and Paresh Rawal.
At present, the cast and crew of the film are in South Africa and sources have it that the two ladies are having a blast together. Also, Sush is encouraging Kangana to take up driving seriously as Kangana seems to have a driving phobia. Though she owns a car, she does not drive along the Mumbai city.
In South Africa, Sushmita is taking all efforts to encourage Kangana to try driving. She even gets into the car with Kangana and gives instructions as she drives short distances around their hotel there. This seems to have a positive effect and now Kangana has started to enjoy driving.

A sneek-peak into ‘My Name Is Khan’

‘My Nmae is Khan’ under the co-production of Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan has made a record for being the film sold for the highest amount so far. Fox Star Studios have bought the marketing and distribution rights for the film a whopping Rs 100 Crore, thus surpassing Rs. 90 crore deal for Aamir Khan starrer ‘Ghajini’ and Rs 70 Crore deal for ‘Om Shanti Om’.

The film has been made with a budget of 55 Crore and has SRK and Kajol in the main lead. SRK here plays the role of a Muslim who suffers from the Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that impacts social interaction abilities. Things show the plight of the character when he is arrested as a suspected terrorist in post 9/11 Los Angeles after the authorities mistake his disability as suspicious behaviour.

Salman: SRK and me don’t see eye to eye

29SALMAN
Salman Khan in a new interview talks about Islam, SRK and a brand new IPL teamthat he wants to buy. Read…
Some would say you have been unfair to SRK on the airport controversy. Doesn’t racial profiling bother you? Have you never felt that people behaved in a certain manner with you because you are a Muslim?
I don’t think Shah Rukh has ever gone through that. He has been politically correct, there are no court cases against him they still detained him, and he felt humiliated. They were doing their job.
Let me put this directly: what is your problem with the man who lives on the other side of Bandstand? You used to be friends once.
It’s just that our thinking doesn’t tally. But the world’s made of all sorts of people. I did not like what he said once. He respects my family, I respect his. We just don’t see eye to eye. Weird things happened one night. It could have been sorted out then and there.
Next morning I came home. But I found that it was blown out of proportion, obviously not from my side.
It was just a joke at a party, wasn’t it?
(Looks across, intensely) It was not a joke.
I don’t want to talk about it, but as one grows, one becomes magnanimous, more secure chalo, god has given so much. But not in his case.I have my family, my parents, brothers, sisters, everybody. He doesn’t have anybody above him. So perhaps it is lack of guidance perhaps. Or may be some sort of a fear. May be if I were in his place, I would behave exactly like that.
Do you respect Shah Rukh professionally?
He is very effective. Great script sense. He has come up the hard way, from TV. How he has climbed is his problem. But he has climbed a long way up. For me it is not about climbing, it is about growing.
There are fatwahs against you celebrating Ganpati in your house. Haven’t you ever worried that it might alienate thousands of your Muslim fans?
First came human and then came religion. Muslims don’t like bad Muslims; Hindus don’t like bad Hindus. Fatwa is an opinion. Nobody is allowed to issue fatwas. The relationship is between me, the banda, and god.
Are you buying an IPL team?
Yes, I want to buy an IPL team. I am interested. So is Lalit. He and I have discussed this. It is a long process, involves bidding and all that.
Which team do you want to buy? Kolkata Knight Riders?
No no. I want to buy one of the two new teams that they are going to introduce.People think I want to buy a team because of an ego hassle with Shah Rukh. Suniel [Shetty] put it very well the other dayâ?¦he said I don’t think somebody will put hundreds of crores for an ego hassle.
You like cricket?
My father and brother are crazy about it. I am not that ardent a fan, but once I’m into it, I’ll make sure things work.

Minissha Lamba has art in her blood

Minissha Lamba scorched the screens with her dare-bare act in ‘Kidnap’ and immediately after that she gave some hot clicks for Maxim. But little do her fans know that Minissha’s mother is an avid painter and has been into painting for over 2 years now. Minissha has some 25 paintings of her mother adorning her house. These paintings range from beautiful sceneries to psychedelics. Minissha adores these paintings so much that she recently turned down a lucrative offer made by a gentleman to buy one of these paintings.
Minisha Lamba
Minissha reveals, “Our entire house is packed with her work. A lot of my friends have asked her to hold an exhibition, but she doesn’t take them seriously. Recently, a man landed up at our doorstep expressing interest in one of mom’s painting titled Glorious Elements. Later, he revealed that he had seen the painting on a friend’s camera phone and he got the address from him and wanted to buy the painting.”

This sure assures us of the actress’ arty connection.

Five elements of BLUE

The wait for Bollywood’s most ambitious, the much anticipated underwater extravaganza film, ‘BLUE’ is over. The film has not one or two but five power packed USP’s. Firstly it is an underwater action thriller. ‘BLUE’ captures the fast paced action, above and below the ocean as never seen before in Indian Cinema. It has got everything that a high tech Hollywood film would have. The promos give the real feel of the marine life. Secondly, the sound tracks. If you haven’t seen the promos yet, then watch this video. This all-round action packed grandiose has none other than Oscar winner A.R.Rahman composing the tracks for the film with the winning combination of Resul Pookuty engineering the sound. Thirdly, the banner of the film, Blue is produced by one of India’s biggest production houses Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. The Producer, Dhilin Mehta has once again defied norms and raised the bar in film-making. The film is inferred to be made in more than 90 crores. Fourthly, the big star cast. Under the visionary direction of debutant Anthony D’Souza, this oceanic spectacle features Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Rahul Dev and Katrina Kaif. Lara is the lead actress in the film and has left no chance to titillate the audience. Her perfect model figure and smoky attitude has drawn enough attention to the film. Beside her, Akshay’s lucky mascot, Katrina Kaif will also be seen in a cameo role. Katrina’s new flamboyant look has become the talk of the town. The fifth USP comes in as the icing on the cake in the form of International pop-sensation Kylie Minogue who has performed a special number in the film along with the leading cast of the film…take a look!

Salman Khan is a self-made man

Salman Khan's special blog
Born to the veteran script writer, Salim Khan, Salman Khan entered Bollywood in the year 1988. Despite the fact that he was born as a star kid, he never misused his connections. He struggled like a regular struggler and auditioned like everyone else.  Today he is a superstar and the entire credit goes to him. He, made his acting debut with the film Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), had his first commercial success with the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), and won a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance. He went on to star in some of Bollywood's most successful films, such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994), Biwi No.1 (1999), having appeared in the highest earning films for five separate years during his career. In 1999, Khan won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his extended appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and since then has starred in several critical and commercial successes. Khan has thus established himself as one of the most prominent leading actors of Hindi cinema.

The name Salman Khan sparks several images: his reluctance to wear shirts, his sculpted chest, his frequent run-ins with the law, his gorgeous ex-girlfriends, his good looks (voted by People magazine in 2004 as the 7th most good looking man in the world and the first in India) and his unquestionable status as one of three reigning Khans of Bollywood.

PERFECT MOVIE FOR AWARD

SmasHits.comClose

'Kaminey'is the first perfect movie made in the recent times. So, it deserves award. Since it belongs to the director, the credit goes to Vishal Bhardwaj. The movie is perfect in all respects. It has action, emotion, drama, suspense, political ambitions, drug mafia linked with the well crafted and executed story of twin brothers. It's bold, stark, funny and unpredictable, which is the success mantra of movie. Vishal Bhardwaj not only gives a crackling screenplay, but also smart one-liners.His cameos stay even after the curtain falls. Priyanka's drunken seduction act, where she declares she loves Guddu more than Mumbai, Chennai, and Thiruvanthapuram is an example. Similar are Amole Gupte and Chandan Roy's childish capers with the gun as Bope and Tope. Shahid's `Fiderman' dance is very impressive. The movie's story is of twins - Charlie and Guddu (both played by Shahid Kapoor in double role). They have just the opposite traitsIf Guddu with stammering prefers to live the right way as a goal-oriented, peace-loving, non-violent common man, then Charlie, with the speech problem , wants to get quick rich. Similarly, Guddu is quiet and shy, Charlie is the rough and tough type. They never meet until they cross each other on a rainy night, and fall into wrong hands. While Charlie gets mixed up in a deathly get-rich-quick scheme, Guddu realises that the love of his life, Sweety has unwittingly put a price on his head!Their lives collide with the lives of gangsters, rebel soldiers, rogue politicians and crooked cops.

Thus, they are left to protect themselves and their dreams. They realize that they need each other at this juncture. Guddu needs Charlie to complete his love story with Sweety (Priyanka Chopra), sister of Marathi politician (Amole Gupte) and Charlie needs Guddu to fulfill his dreams to get quick rich. In the meantime, both earn the ire of their enemies. Guddu is troubled by rabid leader who cannot see his sister settling down with a non-Maharashtrian and Charlie enrages not only the crooked cops but an entire gang of drug smugglers headed by the wily Tashi (Tenzing Nima).

ABHI, PIGGY COLD WAR OVER

SmasHits.comClose

Priyanka Chopra is busy bonding with a co-star these days, and it's not Shahid Kapoor. The actress has renewed her friendship with her once close pal, Abhishek Bachchan. The two were buddies when they shot 'Bluffmaster' together, but a misunderstanding between the two resulted in Priyanka being replaced by Ashwarya in 'Umrao Jaan'. This resulted in straining their relations to the extent that they distanced themselves and turned too formal. This was evident on the sets of 'Drona'. Not only the movie flopped but also the directors decided not to sign them together in future because of lack of chemistry between the two.The recent episode of a director stating that Ash deserved the award more than Priyanka led to the widening of the gap in her relations with Bachchans. However, Abhishek took the lead and ended the cold war by assuring her former pal that he still values her friendship. Now, both are friends and exchange pleasantries as in the past. Recently, Priyanka sent Abhishek a compilation of music she thought he'd like and, like a true friend, Abhishek greatly appreciated it and was touched by the gesture

DIA MIRZA'S CRAZE HER DREAM ROLE

SmasHits.comClose
Dia Mirza is still very far from what she deserves in the industry and therefore rightly rues the fact that she has not yet found her dream role. She said this in a recent chat with the media. She has been lying low for quite some time though she is being seen in Rakesh Roshan's 'Krazzy 4'. She reveals as to why her name was kept a secret from the star cast of the movie. She has played a journalist in the film, trying to reform the four crazy people. It's an important role. Juhi Chawla plays a psychiatrist and she acts as a journalist. Though the film is a comedy, she plays a very serious role, she asserts. Her role in 'Krazzy 4' is much different from her earlier character in Apoorva Lakhia's 'Shoot Out At Lokhandwala' though she plays a journo there, too. She has several movies on hand like Ashu Trikha's 'Zindagi Tere Naam', Sanjay Gupta's 'Alibaug', and another comedy - 'Fruit and Nut' and Soojit Sircar's 'Shoebite' with Amitabh Bachchan. However, she is banking on National Award-winning director Manmohan Mahapatra's 'Bits and Pieces'. Excerpts of the interview:
Are you satisfied with your present status in the industry?

I have done good work and I am almost 30 films old, but I have yet to get that one role which I can really talk about.
What's your latest movie?
I am making an appearance in Rakesh Roshan's 'Krazzy 4'.
How come this fact didn't come out in the open?
I am the surprise package of the film. This was deliberately kept a secret. Rakeshji didn't want the audience to know that I am featuring in the film, as they wanted to give the viewers a surprise.
What's your role vis-à-vis lead actor Juhi Chawla?
I play a journalist in the film, trying to reform the four crazy people. It's an important role. Juhi Chawla plays a psychiatrist and I am a journalist. Though the film is a comedy, I play a very serious role to play.
Isn't your role in 'Krazzy 4' quite different from your earlier roles?
You are right. I played a journalist in Apoorva Lakhia's 'Shoot Out At Lokhandwala' in the past. But the two roles are poles apart. Here I am shown doing a lot of social work.
What else?
I am also doing Ashu Trikha's 'Zindagi Tere Naam', where I will also be performing an item song. Sanjay Gupta's 'Alibaug' is also a wonderful film. I am doing another comedy - 'Fruit and Nut'. Then there is Soojit Sircar's 'Shoebite' with Amitabh Bachchan, but it is too early to talk about this.
What are you looking forward to?
I am now looking forward to National Award-winning director Manmohan Mahapatra's 'Bits and Pieces'.

‘My name is not important’

In a chat on ‘My Name Is Khan’, Shah Rukh Khan clarifies a few misconceptions about him, one of them being his vanity

picture: Getty Images
Shah Rukh Khan is in news these days after he and Karan Johar inked a historic Rs.100 crore deal with a Hollywood studio. Fox STAR Studios will now be distributing "My Name Is Khan", a film SRK and Karan are co-producing.

The movie, in which Shah Rukh plays a Los Angeles-based special needs character called Rizwan Khan, also stars Kajol.

Shah Rukh gets chatting about topics related to “My Name Is Khan”.

On co-producing the film with Karan Johar
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and my Red Chillies can never go in for a deal as we are good friends. How do you expect a ‘deal’ between friends? I am there on board because I want to be a part of this film, personally and professionally. I requested Karan the same and it was kind of him to agree to my request. We are like a family. Over and above, I like ‘My Name is Khan’. I think our getting together with Fox will help us achieve something good for Indian cinema.

On comparisons between Rizwan Khan of ‘My Name Is Khan’ and Kabir Khan of ‘Chak De! India’
It’s not absolutely incorrect to compare characters. I play most of my characters off-the-cuff. That is why people don’t take me seriously. But I am an immensely serious actor and I give a part of me to every character that I play. I fear one morning when I will wake up I may have nothing more to give. Rizwan Khan is more realistic and very close to my heart. In fact, I am in love with all the characters with the name Rahul and now I am liking all the roles with the name Kabir.

On the title ‘My Name Is Khan’
I just joke and you all should be mature enough to take a joke. If I said I am superior I don’t mean it. ‘Meri jaan ke peeche mat padh jao’. A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, so what’s in a name? My name is not important. What is important is my performance and how I carry the character. The title of the film is relevant to the story. It is so silly even to dream of naming a film after your name as that is being possessive and vain. In that case I would have called the film ‘My Name is Shah Rukh’. We shouldn’t cheapen it by saying that this is a self-serving vehicle of Shah Rukh to be on top of all the Khans in the industry. The film couldn’t have been called anything else. When you see it, you will understand that the film goes beyond its own name.

On controversies
Everyone has gone through controversies. We all are educated, sensible and sensitive. No one likes to fall prey to controversies. We like to do our jobs to the best of our abilities. Yes, ‘My Name is Khan’ has a huge Islamic, Western and Asperser’s angle to it. We don’t want to disturb anyone. We can make a mistake sometimes. But we have tried to be very careful to make sure we don’t hurt the sentiments of any community. I am like Karan’s elder brother and I love the films he makes. We have taken care of all the issues. Besides that, if people have an issue, it should be sorted out and the media should help us to make sure that the importance of the film isn’t subjugated by some minor controversy.

On the subject of 'My Name Is Khan'
This film is not about terrorism or 9/11. It is not about anti-social elements either. It’s about relationships between people, communities, cities, countries and the world. Innumerable negative things are happening around us and the film hasn’t been affected by it at all. We have shown an emotional reality in the film which is timeless. It’s not based on any event as such

I used to be a terrible actress

Priyanka Chopra takes great pride in being where she is today

'No plans of settling down at the moment. But when I do... Mr. Right has to match a lot of my parameters...,' says Priyanka

'No plans of settling down at the moment. But when I do... Mr. Right has to match a lot of my parameters...,' says Priyanka
She is one of the reigning stars in Bollywood, but Priyanka Chopra says she was a very bad actress when she debuted with "Andaaz" six years ago. While the former Miss World has set high goals for herself and is experimenting with roles like never before, she is also clear about what she is looking for in her 'Mr. Right'.

"I think I was a terrible actress when I started off as compared to what I'm today. I still have a lot to learn, but I believe that I have grown as an actress and I evolve constantly. I always had the hunger to learn and become better at what I do - just like a sponge, trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible," Priyanka told IANS in an email interview.

The actress, who won the Filmfare Award for best actress for "Fashion", wants to take her career to greater heights. She has no plans of getting married right now but knows what she wants from her man.

"No plans of settling down at the moment. But when I do... Mr. Right has to match a lot of my parameters... He has to be someone who knows how to make me feel special... make me feel like I'm walking on air...," said Priyanka, who turned 27 on July 18.

Excerpts from an interview:

Having had two hits in 2008 - "Fashion" and "Dostana" - along with several awards... how do you look back at your past year?

I feel like I'm 20 years into my career because I've done so much work in such a short time. When I look back, it's been only five-six years since I've been here. I've never received any formal training in acting or cinema nor do I belong to a film family; so for me, the biggest achievement is that my hard work and my family's support have led me to the place I'm in today. I take great pride in that.

How would you review your performance in Bollywood ever since you made your debut with "Andaaz" in 2003?

I think I was a terrible actress when I started off as compared to what I'm today. I still have a lot to learn, but I believe that I've grown as an actress and I evolve constantly. I always had the hunger to learn and become better at what I do - just like a sponge, trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible.

Your forthcoming movies are "Kaminey" and "What's Your Rashee?" and "Pyaar Impossible". Which one are you more excited about and why?

I have different feelings for different films. I'm very excited about "Kaminey" because it's pathbreaking cinema. On the other hand, I'm equally nervous and excited about "What's Your Rashee?" because it was a huge challenge for me. I play 12 different characters in it, something that hasn't really been done in Indian cinema before and the fact that I'll be a part of history in the making is very scary.

"Pyaar Impossible" is a sweet, cool story where I have a glamorous look and contemporary character. As cliched as it sounds... each one is special...

In "Kaminey" you play a de-glamourised role opposite Shahid Kapur. Were you sceptical about the look because you were seen in ultra-glam roles in "Fashion" and "Dostana"?

Let's put this into context. I chose the role not because she was de-glamourised. I chose it because of the way the character is etched out and not how she looks. That's incidental. With most of my films, especially the most recent ones... I have taken up roles that are interesting and different from what I've done before.

You have always been silent about controversies related to your personal and professional life - why?

Because I firmly believe that all aspects of my life are for public consumption. I learnt early in my career that speculation, rumours and gossip come with the job... a professional hazard. But I'd much rather approach it with dignified silence than to engage in ugly mud-slinging.

What about your multiple link-ups and break-ups news - don't they disturb you?

They definitely do because eventually I'm a girl and have a family - a father, a mother, a brother. It does bother me, but I don't believe in clarifying the rumours. It just gives it undue importance. As long as my family knows what the truth is, that's all that matters. The rest doesn't!

Any plans of settling down in the near future? What sort of a guy would you want as a companion?

No plans of settling down at the moment. But when I do... Mr. Right has to match a lot of my parameters... He has to be someone who knows how to make me feel special... make me feel like I'm walking on air... He has to be somebody who loves me for who I am and takes pride in being with me. He also has to be honest and be able to speak well... make me laugh... all in all, somebody who really really loves me.
